The cozy yet stylish ambiance of the diner creates an inviting atmosphere that sets it apart from other dining spots in the area. One of the standout features of Chiantangtsuen is its diverse and carefully curated menu. From comforting Taiwanese classics to creative fusion dishes, the menu is a true reflection of the restaurant’s commitment to delivering high-quality, flavorful meals. You’ll find a range of options that cater to different tastes and dietary preferences. Their signature dishes include hearty rice bowls, fresh seafood, and delicious stir-fries, all made with locally sourced ingredients to guarantee freshness and flavor.

During my visit, I couldn’t resist trying their signature braised pork rice, a staple in Taiwanese cuisine. The tender pork belly was perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of fat and lean meat, and the rich, flavorful sauce brought it all together. The dish was served over a bed of warm, perfectly steamed rice-simple but incredibly satisfying. Another dish worth mentioning is their grilled fish, which was tender and seasoned to perfection. The balance of flavors left me craving more.

The restaurant also excels in offering a variety of beverages to pair with your meal. Their house-made lemon tea was incredibly refreshing, with just the right touch of sweetness and citrus. It’s clear that Chiantangtsuen takes pride in every aspect of its dining experience, from the carefully chosen ingredients to the attention to detail in presentation.

What truly sets this place apart is the staff’s exceptional service. The team at Chiantangtsuen is not only friendly but also knowledgeable about the menu. • Must try their spring onion pancake, so good, you can eat it by itself or try the beef wrapper that have beef slices and cucumber. Will definitely revisit to try other dishes next time.

  • If you want to be treated like family this is the venue to come. Warm and welcoming staff, they don't waste time in ceremonial greetings or acting formal. Just take a seat and mummy will feed you well. Some of the yummy dishes include drunk chicken, chicken soup, the rice cake (年糕).

  • True authentic taste from the childhood memories, not many as such left, and not cost an arm and a leg to enjoy amazing food! Almost no “land mine” dishes, everything we’ve tried were fantastic! It’s not about fancy decor, it offers down to earth heavenly taste! My kind of restaurant! The only downside is: tends to over-ordered and overeat….

  • Scrumptious, family made traditional Chinese food that tastes fantastic. They are also open on holidays since many old people live in the neighborhood. You should definitely eat a group meal here if you want something truly special and local.

  • Authentic Shanghai cuisine which are less seeing nowadays. Place is not fancy, so more suitable for family or closer friends gathering.
